Parts Life, Inc. Showcasing Obsolescence Support at Tinker and the Primes

Updated: Aug 1

Parts Life, Inc. is set to sponsor, attend and exhibit at Tinker and the Primes 2024 next week, August 5th-8th at the Delta Midwest City Hotel at the Reed Conference Center in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Located at booth 34, we will be showcasing our past performance in supporting reverse engineering and manufacturing of DMSMS parts and components for major military systems and subsystems.

With a strong foundation in DMSMS and reverse engineering of obsolete components, PLI is showcasing our past performance in mitigating supply chain deficiencies and enhancing operational availability for the United States Air Force.

Come meet with our business development and engineering teams at a No-Host Happy Hour after the show Wednesday August 7th from 6-8pm at the SkyDance Brewing Company in Oklahoma City. Network, socialize and talk to our team of expertise about our proven obsolescence and dmsms solutions aimed at providing alternate sources and manufacturable technical data packages. This is a no-host event with a cash bar and appetizers provided. Click here to register.

Parts Life, Inc. uses our processes and capabilities to proactively mitigate DMSMS and supply chain shortages. One of the ways our team solves obsolescence is through our R.O.P.E. process, or Rapid Obsolescence Planning & Execution Solution. The R.O.P.E.® process examines and evaluates every aspect of DMSMS and obsolescence challenges for individual parts and components as well as full systems and subsystems, providing comprehensive, fully customized full-service support for even the oldest assets. The 6-gated process evaluates existing data to ensure technical data is fully manufacturable, resulting in faster turn around time for critically needed parts and components. By emphasizing comprehensive engineering processes, broad market sourcing, and strategic procurement, our team strives to increase sustainment readiness and end-to-end readiness while providing a high quality alternate source.

This past spring, our reverse engineering team launched The EEPIC Lab, or Engineering and Electronic Product Innovation Center. This fully functional portable reverse engineering laboratory is self-contained in a 20’ x 8’ mobile container, that extends to 20' x 20' for 400 square feet of lab space and working area. With reverse engineering capabilities for both Electronic and Mechanical parts and components, the EEPIC lab's on-site capabilities ensure that teams can perform critical engineering and analysis tasks without the downtime or security issues associated with transporting components off-site.

By offering an alternate source for replacement parts and components, creating 2nd sources and industry surge capacity, we've simplified the procurement process for our customers, extending the lifecycle of critical assets and improving readiness rates. Through the variety of development methods, Parts Life, Inc. has meticulously perfected our reverse engineering and product production processes to meet Air Force standards, while also facilitating cost effective parts acquisition.

In addition to Parts Life’s broad DMSMS capabilities, our team will also be showcasing our sister company, DeVal Lifecycle Support’s success in manufacturing armament and ground support equipment for the Air Force and U.S. Navy. DeVal’s 70 year history of innovation and design engineering for ground support equipment, focusing on lifecycle extension, sustainment readiness, and engineering upgrades designed to minimize routine maintenance and increase operational availability.

“Over the past several years our teams have been actively mitigating DMSMS and obsolescence issues for many parts and components on mission critical systems” states Jeannie Whitfield, Vice President of Market Insight & Business Intelligence. “Time and time again, we’ve seen operational readiness rates affected by the inability to procure parts and components due to supply chain or source shortages. From the B-52 to the T-38, our teams at Parts Life and DeVal are proud to support the Air Force with our customized obsolescence and manufacturing solutions for supply chain resiliency and sustainment readiness.

DeVal Lifecycle Support has been instrumental in maintaining the operational readiness of the Air Force's T-38 Talon aircraft fleet. The T-38, a crucial supersonic jet trainer, relies heavily on the availability of specialized components to remain mission-ready. One such component is the light filter, a seemingly small but vital part that ensures the aircraft's lighting systems function correctly, allowing pilots to operate safely under various conditions.

Recently, the USAF T-38 team faced a significant challenge: 13 T-38 aircraft were grounded, awaiting the delivery of the crucial light filter. These aircraft are essential for pilot training and readiness, and any delay in their availability directly impacts the Air Force's operational availability.

Our teams at Parts Life and DeVal Lifecycle Support stepped in to address this urgent need. Leveraging expertise in logistics supportability and lifecycle management, DeVal quickly coordinated with suppliers and utilized their streamlined processes to expedite the production and delivery of the required light filters.

The prompt action by DeVal had a significant impact on sustainment readiness and logistics supportability for the Air Force. The 13 grounded T-38 aircraft are in the process of being equipped with the new light filters and are swiftly returning to operational status. This quick turnaround prevented potential delays in pilot training schedules and ensured that the Air Force maintained its high standards of readiness and preparedness.

DeVal's proactive approach and commitment to supporting the Air Force's needs highlight the importance of effective lifecycle support in maintaining military readiness. By ensuring the availability of critical components like the light filter, DeVal Lifecycle Support plays a vital role in the ongoing success and operational capability of the USAF T-38 fleet and many other platforms.

“We’re proud of the work we are doing in supporting the Defense Industrial Base” states Whitfield. “By focusing on addressing our customers most urgent needs, DeVal has seen tremendous growth and recently purchased a new 40,000 sq ft facility to expand our manufacturing, remanufacturing and electronic operations. With a 400% increase in employee growth over the last 7 years, we’re projecting an additional 30% growth with our new facilities, enhancing our production surge capacity to mitigate risk and actively address warfighter readiness.”
